Jeffrey's Birthday- a moms thoughts

So this year we began the birthday tradition of breakfast out with mom and dad, gran joined us as well. It was Jeffrey's 1st try at restaurant food, beyond toast or rolls. For the most part he had a good time. We also went to get our 1st big boy shoes, it was great, they gave him a balloon and took his picture, the only down side was we werent out of the mall before he had kicked them off. So back I went to get a less cute (the 1st ones were green, with little orange stripes going up the sides, semi bowling shoe looking) and higher boot like design. For those of you that know my love of the shoe, you will know I was sad to see the cute ones go. But as he is only going to fit in these for a few weeks, Im sure many cute options are in his future.

Anyways, enough about shoes, as I complete my 1st year as a mom, I am so grateful for everyones support, it has been an adjustment, I at times doubted I could surrvive. We are glad we opted not to sell the little man (was a consideration in the early weeks) despite the fact that he is such a cuties, I am sure we would have gotten a good price. I am so glad to have had my fellow moms Carrie and Tricia as well as all the moms in my moms group to check in with, get advice from, and just know that I wasnt totally loosing it. I am also so grateful for my wonderful and patient husband who is really a superstar, despite how rarely I tell him that. And my mom who has been so supportive and willing to give a hand, even when it meant sending frozen meals long distance and show her support from 1000 miles away. I am also grateful that Jeffrey has had few major struggles and that he is finally sleeping better, yesturday we even had a 40 min nap in the crib (this is unheard of, he is typically a 20 min napper), which you fellow mom's know, nap time, is a moms only time to get any rest or run around the house like a mad woman picking up. So I look into the 2nd year with gratitude for all of the support we have (those I didn't mention, thank you), the hope of continued improvement in the sleep department, and curiosity as to what new steps our little guy will make.
